For Tim and Christina Stevens, Stevens Heating & Cooling has always been about more than heating and air. It’s about taking care of people, serving their neighbors and building something their family can be proud of.

The business began in 2014, but Tim brought years of HVAC experience with him. The opportunity to take the leap came when a friend building a home asked Tim to handle the HVAC installation. He had already been considering starting his own business, and that first house, along with a little faith and encouragement, became the beginning of Stevens Heating & Cooling. More than a decade later, the family-operated company is based right here in Centralia and serves communities throughout the surrounding area.

Today, Stevens Heating & Cooling provides furnace and air-conditioning service and repair, complete HVAC installation for existing and new homes, mini-split and ductless systems, indoor air quality solutions and yearly preventative maintenance programs. Their goal is to be large enough to provide customers with quality products and a wide range of services, while remaining small enough to offer the personal attention of a local family business.

That family connection is becoming even stronger. Tim and Christina’s son Kelby now handles installation and service work, while their son Miles works as an install helper. Harrison, who they say may not technically be family but is certainly treated like it, also works alongside the team. One of the things Tim and Christina are most excited about is training the second generation and passing down not only the skills of the HVAC trade, but the values on which they built the company: hard work, honesty, service and treating customers like family.

Those values extend well beyond their customers. The Stevens family has supported local sports teams, youth racers, community events, church fundraisers, dance teams and many other causes over the years. Their annual Comfort for Christmas Giveaway is especially meaningful to them, giving the family an opportunity to help another local family during the holiday season. They also make local schools a priority when HVAC services are needed and have been involved in projects including the newly remodeled Friendship Place and Kinkead Pharmacy.

Perhaps what stands out most about Stevens Heating & Cooling is how closely the business and the community are intertwined. Centralia is where Tim and Christina raised their family, built their business and formed the relationships that have allowed it to grow. Their customers aren’t simply names on a service schedule; they’re friends, neighbors, teachers, coaches, fellow business owners and families they see in everyday life.

As cooler weather approaches, they also have one simple reminder for homeowners: change your filters! They recommend having your heating system serviced annually as well. Preventative maintenance can improve efficiency and help identify potential problems before you find yourself without heat on a cold winter day.
